City of London Churches

Saint Michael Paternoster Royal dates from the thirteenth century. Dick Wittington, the legendary Lord Mayor of London, was buried in the church in 1423.

The church was destroyed in The Great Fire and rebuilt by Christopher Wren. The church was one of the last to be rebuilt and was finished in 1694.

Saint Michael Paternoster Royal was badly damaged by the bombing of The Second World War and was eventually restored in 1968.
