City of London Churches

Saint Vedast alias Foster dates from before 1300.

The church badly damaged during The Great Fire and initially restored. In the late 1690s the church required reconstruction which was carried out by Christopher Wren.

Saint vedast was gutted by fire bombs in 1940 and 1941. The plan to leave the ruins as a war memorial was overturned and the church was finally restored in 1962.
