City of London Churches

Saint Mary Somerset dates from the twelfth century.

The church was destroyed in The Great Fire and was rebuilt by Christopher Wren in 1694.

With the falling City of London population the last service was held in Saint Mary Somerset in February 1857. The church was demolished in 1871 but the tower was preserved and now stands on an island with a surrounding garden.
